Zesty Citrus & Cherry Cream Mousse
A bright and refreshing dessert that balances the tang of citrus-infused sour cream with the sweetness of macerated cherries and aromatic basil.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 1 cup cherries, pitted and halved
- 1 lemon (zest and juice)
- 1 lime (zest and juice)
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 5-6 basil leaves, finely chiffonaded
Instructions
Fold the ingredients gently to maintain a light, airy texture.
- In a small bowl, toss the halved cherries with 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of lime juice; set aside to macerate for 15 minutes.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the sour cream, lemon juice, lemon zest, lime zest, and the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar until smooth.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the sour cream mixture using a spatula until just combined.
- Divide the mousse into serving dishes.
- Top each serving with the macerated cherries and their juices, then garnish with fresh basil.
